Photography Course For Beginners in The Haggart, Munnyhill, Kilcormac, Birr, Co. Offaly
Liam Kidney is going to run a one day photography course for beginners in The Haggart, Munnyhill, Kilcormac, Birr, Co. Offaly on Saturday June 8th 2019 The Haggart is a lovely rural retreat and the ideal place for an intimate workshop. The recently restored farm building was named “The Haggart” which means a small enclosed field or garden patch. “The Haggart” stands in the centre of a courtyard within stone walls on the family farm. There is a lovely stove in the room which makes the room nice and cosy and creates a perfect setting for learning.
I will cover the following on the course:
Introduction to Camera Basics
- Shutter Speed,
- Aperture,
- ISO Settings,
- Depth of Field
- White Balance
- Lenses
- Using all of the above to create different types of photos
Introduction to Composition
- Rule of Thirds,
- Perspective,
- Lens Choice,
- Pre-visualisation
- How To take great Landscape Photographs
Weather permitting in the afternoon we would we would travel to the nearby Lough Boora Park, to practice what we learnt in the morning of the course. Students will practice composition and using manual settings on the camera. It is a real hands on course and you will need a camera that you can manually control the shutter, aperture and ISO settings. There will be a maximum of 10 students on the course so I expect spaces to fill up fast.
Cost of Course is €80 and the course runs from 10am to 4.30pm. Lunch, tea and coffee is included.

I don’t have a SLR camera. I have a digital Canon Powershot s90. Is this adequate for the course? If so, I would like to sign up for the remaining place or if too late, could you contact me when organising your next course?
Just saw your comment now. I’m glad you enjoyed the course.
